Two Tons aka Two Tons O' Fun, Weather Girls were Izora Armstead/Rhodes and Martha Walsh. Armstead was born in Texas and studied piano from the age of four, later attending the San Francisco Conservatory, from San Fransisco they first sang together in gospel groups and choirs around the Bay erea before becoming backing vocals for Sylvester. They toured and recorded with him on Dance (Disco Heat) and (You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real. It was said they did read the weather as a job but I can't find any confirmation of that.
Harvey Fuqua took them to Fantasy Records and recorded two albums with them, later in 1982 they signed to CBS Records as the Weather Girls and scored hits with It's Raining Men, I'm Gonna Wash That Man, they left CBS in 1985 after Big Girls Don't Cry. Their Collectble 12" is I Got The Feeling: £60-70.
In addition, Wash recorded various other hit singles under her own name and as a (sometimes uncredited) vocalist for such artists as Black Box and C+C Music Factory.
The Weather Girls continued, after the split with Wash in the mid-80s, with original member Izora and her daughter Dynell Rhodes. Following Izora's death in 2004, Dynell continues to record under the Weather Girls moniker with her sister Ingrid Arthur.
